What are the benefits of  psychotherapy?

There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Sometimes it is to deal with long-standing psychological issues, or problems with anxiety or depression. Other times it is in response to unexpected life changes such as a divorce, loss of a loved one, loss of a job or a desire to pursue their own personal exploration and growth. In therapy there are no magic pill.  However, working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in making the commitment to self and taking the necessary steps to working on those areas of their lives that require change.

Is my therapist obliged to keep all the information I share confidential?

The information shared with the therapist is regarded with great respect.  Generally, this information is deemed confidential.  However, there are circumstances in which information in a client's file may be shared such as when ordered by a court of law.  Information will also be released when the request is accompanied by an information release form signed by the client.

Who is responsible for handling insurance billings for my therapy sessions?

Because we are licensed psychotherapists, many insurance plans will pay for the therapy services that we provide. However, each health insurance plan may differ in terms of coverage and reimbursement policies.  Therefore, you are responsible for knowing what your plan covers.  You are also responsible for the reimbursement of the services provided.  Our office will work with you to complete any claim form needed for reimbursement.

Do you accept insurance? How does insurance work?

Yes.  We accept most insurance plans.  Please check your health plan to determine if you have mental health coverage. Here are some question you may need to ask your plan administrator:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

How long will I be in therapy?

This will depend on how much progress you are making.  Remember, in order for therapy to be successful, you must be an active participant in the process.
